Join our Education Learning and Organisational Development team as the Trust Lead for Moving and Handling. You will lead the development and delivery of all moving and handling training and practices across patient and load handling, ensuring safety and compliance throughout the Trust.

Qualified Moving and Handling Key Trainer with current revalidation

Committed to completing Back Care Moving and Handling Train the Trainer training

Experienced in designing, delivering, and evaluating training programmes

Able to work autonomously and manage a varied workload
Main duties of the job
Reporting into the Mandatory Training Lead, your responsibilities will include:
-
Lead on the development and implementation of moving and handling policies, procedures, and SOPs

Plan and deliver moving and handling training, including induction and ad hoc sessions

Support risk assessments and workstation evaluations
-
Manage and support the Trust moving and handling trainers network
-
Monitor compliance and work with managers to achieve and maintain training targets

Provide advice on equipment use and procurement, working with external suppliers

Investigate incident reports and contribute to moving and handling audits

Attend Trust committees and external conferences to represent moving and handling interests

Collaborate across the wider Learning & Organisational Development team

Relevant Qualifications/Training
Essential criteria
- Degree or working towards or experience
- Moving and Handling Key trainer training with current revalidation
- Maths and English at GSCE A-C/ Level 4 or Level 2 in functional skills or equivalent
- Committed to undertake Back Care Moving and Handling Train the Trainer training
Desirable criteria
- Appropriate professional qualification in training or learning & development
- Specific advanced qualification in back care or moving & handling
- Evidence of attendance at advanced moving & handling/back care courses
- Coaching or mentoring qualification
- Leadership and management qualification
- Train the trainer qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of designing, delivering and evaluating training
- Experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience of working to deadlines independently
Desirable criteria
- Experience of developing learning & development policies and procedures
- Teaching/ training in the health service
- Completing risk assessments
- Applying risk management principles
- Training/mentoring/assessing others in the workplace
- Designing e-learning and/or blended learning packages
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Teaching/facilitation skills
- Knowledge of relevant legislation
- Training techniques and methods
- Wide range of Microsoft packages (e.g. PowerPoint, word and excel)
- Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
- Broad understanding of learning & development within the NHS
- New thinking on training methods (e.g. 70:20:10)
- Experience of NHS systems e.g. OLM
