We are seeking a Consultant in Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery to join our team at Sheffield Children’s Hospital. The post is predominantly based at the Children’s Hospital, with outreach adult orthopaedic clinics and theatre sessions also required.
Sheffield Children’s Hospital is a designated Major Trauma Centre, with the Paediatric Orthopaedics Department recognised nationally and internationally as a centre of excellence.
About You
Completion of a recognised two‑year fellowship in Paediatric Trauma & Orthopaedics, with subspecialty training in limb reconstruction, skeletal dysplasia, and osteogenesis imperfecta.
You bring proven expertise in complex paediatric orthopaedic care, a commitment to high‑quality patient services, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job
Some of your responsibilities will include

On‑call duties will include ward rounds and supervision of trainees and fellows

Elective patient care delivered at Sheffield Children’s Hospital

Service provision at a peripheral hospital as part of outreach responsibilities

Shared responsibility with consultant colleagues for the effective running of the Trauma and Orthopaedic Unit

Active contribution to undergraduate and postgraduate training programmes

- GMC Registration
- FRCS T&O CCT or equivalent
- CCT or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Relevant higher degree
Experience
Essential criteria
- Recognised Higher Specialist Training Programme
- Completion of 2 years of recognised Paediatric Trauma and Orthopaedic Fellowship
Desirable criteria
- One relevant Fellowship in Paediatric Limb Reconstruction, Skeletal Dysplasia and Osteogenesis Imperfecta
Knowledge and Skills
Essential criteria
- ATLS
- Appropriate Fellowships
