Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Pre-Reg Pharmacy Technician to join our team at SHSC Pharmacy. You will contribute to an efficient and accurate pharmacy service to ensure the safe and effective use of medicine through out the trust whilst working towards a formal professional qualification of registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical council. The training will be provided by Bradford College, which is  one of the largest education and training providers in the region. There will be an expectation to attend Bradford for an induction which will take place over the first 2 weeks. Term will start  in September and all lessons will be live online with a tutor present. Learners must attend lessons weekly for the duration of the program. The PTPT course covers knowledge, skills and work base experience under the guidance of a qualified pharmacist. The skills part of the qualification will be completed in the workplace which will be captured using an E-Portfolio of Evidence. 

The entry criteria is:
•    4 GCSE's at A-C (9-4) which must include Maths, English language,  Science and 1 other subject. 
•    Over 16 years of age on application  
•    Lived in the UK, EU or EEA for the previous 3 years
•    Not currently on a significant training

The successful candidate will be paid £7.55 an hour for the first year and minimum wage dependent on age for the second year. 

Main duties of the job

  • To train to become a pharmacy technician which involves multiple skills within the department.
  • Participate in early morning, late night, weekend, and bank holiday rota.
  • To assist and cover for other staff members in other areas within the department.
  • To promote the professional image of pharmacy by ensuring that the standard of dress and behaviour reflects the professional service provided by the department.
  • To participate in annual personal development review (PDR) and to agree to training objectives set.
  • To comply with trust policies including confidentiality, personal and patient safety.
  • Undergo further training as necessary and attend regular progress reviews.
  • To contribute to an efficient and accurate pharmacy service to ensure the safe and effective use of medicines throughout at SHSC NHS Foundation Trust.
  • Ensure the safe and effective use of medicines throughout the Trust.
  • This role is intended to promote the safe and effective use of medicines in all care situations, working with care staff and service users directly.
