If so, Sheffield Teaching Hospital is looking for an Emergency Department Support Navigator to join our violence reduction team at the Northern General Hospital.
This role will provide vital support for those young people and adults who attend ED or who are admitted to the hospital, right through to their safe discharge back into the community. Our successful candidate will learn to identify and assess victims of violence, or those at risk of violence, and provide a comprehensive and holistic assessment, advice, referrals to support services and explore innovative and effective ways of supporting patients which will reduce their risk of re-victimisation
Main duties of the job
Provide vital support for those whose lives are affected by violence who attend ED or who are admitted to the hospital right through to their safe discharge back into the community. Where needed linking up with other support agencies to provide holistic care post discharge.
This role will also provide administrative support to the ED Navigator team.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis until the 31st March 2026 due to the post being externally funded. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts taking into consideration the ongoing source of the external funding and the requirement for the post to be maintained.

Essential criteria
- GCSE grade C/4 or above, or equivalent or working towards in English and Maths
- Lived experience, have relevant life experience and credibility
Experience

- Experience of working with people impacted by violence, trauma or tragedy
- Experience of working with projects that seek to address issues around violence
- Experience of dealing with safeguarding incidents
- Experience of using appropriate assessment tools to better understand the needs of clients, or willingness to undertake required training
- Experience of working as an effective team member
- Experience of working with people and the ability to build and sustain relationships in a professional context.
- Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team
Desirable criteria
- Experience of mediation
- Experience working with young people and communities including BAME
- A knowledge of local support organisations
