We have a part -time (3 day) Senior Therapy Assistant vacancy to work in a community therapy team in the North of the City. The Team treats adults over 16 referred from the Hospital, GPs, District Nurses, and other Health and Social Care services with a variety of conditions and therapy needs to maintaining and improve independent living.

The successful candidate will deliver rehabilitation programmes and provide equipment to patients within the home environment. You will work alongside occupational therapist, physiotherapists and specialist therapy assistants to progress rehabilitation and improve independence.

We work in an integrated way with the nursing teams to achieve the patient goals in a patient centred way. Staff are well supported with regular team meeting, supervision and training.

Main duties of the job

  • To assist the interdisciplinary team in the provision of patient centred care.
  • To implement packages of care and rehabilitation programmes in the community and complete patient records.
  • Undertake assessment of patients within departmental guidelines.
  • To assist the interdisciplinary team in maintaining an efficient working environment.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for the maximum period of 12 months (until June 2026). Where there is potential, the secondment/fixed term contract may finish early, or in the first instance, the secondment/fixed term contract may be extended due to the internal/external secondment of the substantive post holder. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts and secondments in relation to the substantive post holder.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to GCSE grade 4/C or above in English and Maths or equivalent experience
  • Level III NVQ in Health and Social Care/ OR diagnostic and therapeutic support or equivalent relevant qualification /experience
  • Demonstrate commitment to life long learning via personal development file
Desirable criteria
  • IT training/qualifications or equivalent experience

Special Skills/Aptitudes

Essential criteria
  • Due to the requirement to undertake visits and transport non-portable equipment, the post holder is required to be either car driver with a valid driving licence, or have access to an alternative means of transport

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Relevant experience of either, working in rehabilitation e.g. as a therapy assistant or a rehabilitation assistant/ assistant practitioner or another rehabilitation setting
  • To have worked independently managing own patient/client list
  • Experience of liaising with other agencies, services and professional colleagues
Desirable criteria
  • To have worked in the community setting

  • Good verbal and non-verbal communicator with the ability to motivate people
