Dental Technician – removable prosthodontics
An opportunity has arisen within the Charles Clifford Dental Services to recruit a dental technician to join the prosthetics department of the Dental Laboratory.
The duties will involve the construction of a wide range of removable prostheses, these must be carried out to a high standard. The laboratory provides a service for undergraduate and postgraduate students and for clinical members of staff.
You will require a BSc, or equivalent, in dental technology and registration with the GDC. Previous experience is desirable. You will be required to work as part of a team and have excellent communication skills.
Applicants are invited to visit the laboratory and as part of the interview process you will be requested to carry out a skills test. Interviews and skills tests will be held on Thursday 17 April 2025.
Main duties of the job
Undertake the duties of a dental technician to clinical prescription. This involves the planning, design and construction of a full range of custom made removable prosthodontic appliances.
The vast majority of the work undertaken by the post holder will be of a complex nature.

The Dental Technology Laboratory provides a high quality service for patients being treated by NHS and Academic Clinical staff and Postgraduate / Undergraduate students in a number of Departments comprising Restorative Dentistry (including Dental Implants), Orthodontics, Paediatrics, Periodontics, Surgical Services, Special Care and Sedation.
The principal function of the laboratory is to provide high quality dental technology services which meet patient requirements while achieving the most effective and efficient use of resources. Work is generated through patient throughput and clinical activity.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Fully qualified dental technician holding a BSc Hons / Foundation Degree; BTEC Diploma in Dental Technology/City and Guilds Final or SCOTVEC Equivalent
- Registered Dental Technician.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience in the production of some complex removable prosthesis.
- Knowledge of Medical Devices Directive
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of CPD training and updating knowledge
- Working in hospital dental laboratory
- Some post qualification experience
Special Skills/Aptitudes
Essential criteria
- Able to use own initiative and prioritise own workload
Desirable criteria
- Commitment to develop skills and undertake further training
