Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Waiting List Coordinator to join the team, to actively assist the department in the efficient and effective management of the outpatient/inpatient waiting lists in line with both national and local standards.

Working alongside the Scheduler, you will work alongside another Waiting List Coordinator who will each look after a group of consultant’s clinic/theatre lists. You will be responsible for ensuring clinic and theatre lists are fully utilised and waiting lists are well managed in order of clinical priority.

We are looking for someone with good organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to work under pressure and a good communicator with medical, nursing and admin colleagues who has the patient at the heart of everything they do. Someone with a good knowledge of Lorenzo, in particular how to create a new clinic, cancelling clinics due to leave and booking patients from access plans would be an advantage. Training can be provided on the surgical bookings processes if you don’t already have experience in this.

You are encouraged to contact the hiring manager to find out more about the department and this role, and what the department is looking for from the ideal candidate.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for the administration of the department’s outpatient/inpatient waiting lists, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.

Robustly manage a PTL against local and national waiting times as well as working to meet Dermatology Key Performance Indicators.

Use appropriate booking processes to facilitate the admission of patients adding, removing, appointing and suspending patients to and from the outpatient/inpatient waiting lists.

Using Lorenzo, take the lead responsibility for building new clinics and amending existing clinics to include clinic cancellations and reopening clinics in line with department capacity including liaising with consultants to provide extra clinic capacity to ensure department meets local and national targets.

Be responsible for managing consultant and junior doctor annual leave requests ensuring any issues are escalated to the Operational Manager.

Manage review lists for follow up patients who require further investigations or follow up ensuring that these are completed in the time specified by the medical & nursing team.

Working for our organisation

You will be working for an organisation which values and respects all its staff and the community it serves. The Trust is a leader in the NHS and research sectors and provides excellent benefits for its staff. This includes commitments to professional development but also many policies to support employees in balancing their personal and professional lives.
