Job overview
We are looking to recruit a Chargehand Porter, the post holder will be responsible for Allocating tasks to Portering staff, ensuring Trust Policies and Procedures are adhered to. They will need to adhere to and share responsibilities for implementation of Trust Policies and Local Departmental Rules.
Other duties will include; participating in all patient movement duties when required, carrying out annual Individual Performance Reviews with staff, identifying training and development needs and receiving and signing for parcels, including medical records and specimens re collection.
Main duties of the job
- To supervise and allocate tasks to General Portering Staff.
- Provide a front of house contact to patients and visitors. RHH Only
- To maintain an efficient and effective Portering Service with the responsibility for a team of Porters
- To ensure agreed quality standards are maintained
- Be pleasant and courteous with an understanding manner
- To act as line manager out of hour

Essential criteria
- Educated to GCSE grade 4 /C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent or relevant experience)

- Evidence of workplace learning

- Significant NHS Portering experience.
- Significant Supervisory/ Management experience
- Experience of dealing with the public.
- Ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines
