Job overview
We are looking to appoint a part time Locum Consultant Gastroenterologist for a fixed term recovery post to the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust based at the Northern General Hospital and Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
The appointee must be a member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) or equivalent and would be expected to have completed higher specialist training or equivalent in Gastroenterology. It is desirable that the appointee holds a higher medical degree (i.e. MD or PhD).
Applicants must be on the Specialist Register (for Gastroenterology) or within six months of being admitted to the Register for trainees if currently in a training programme within the UK. Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.
Main duties of the job
The appointee will, together with Consultant colleagues, be responsible for providing Endoscopy Services to enable the Sheffield Teaching Hospital to fulfil its service agreements to the Sheffield CCG and other Commissioners.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Full and Specialist registration (with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) or be eligible for registration within 6 months of interview
- Name on the specialist register for relevant specialty or eligible within 6 months of the date of the interview. If an applicant is UK trained, they must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within 6 months of award of CCT by date of interview
- MRCP or equivalent

Clinical experience

- Ability to work as an independent practitioner in Gastroenterology
- Possess broad clinical experience in the general aspects of the post
- Endoscopic experience for 5 years with appropriate JAG accreditation

- Experience of teaching medical students and resident doctors
