Job overview
Sheffield Teaching hospitals are looking for highly motivated and MR experienced Diagnostic Radiographers to join our expanding MR team. You should have proven MRI imaging skills and extensive experience in MRI.
We are fortunate enough to utilise 7 MR scanners (6x Siemens 1.5T and a Philips 3T, with some extended work on GE scanners) across 3 hospital sites, operating 7 days a week. You will be required to work flexibly – weekday /weekend and out of hour duties, we are a 7 day working department. The role includes participation in the on-call rota.
The range of MR examinations performed is extremely varied and includes specialist Neurological (including fMRI), Cardiac, vascular, MSK, GI, GU, ENT, Gynaecology, oncology, obstetric, undertake MRI under GA, whilst performing MRI on pacemakers patients and cover MRI Radiotherapy planning.
We also have a commitment towards supporting and developing clinical trials and have a dedicated MR physics team and 3D imaging Laboratory radiographers to support this. We also encourage staff development as we have 2 Advanced Clinical Practitioner roles in Cardiac stress imaging within the MRI team and 2 Practice Educators to assist with onboarding new staff, alongside training and developing our trainee MRI Radiographers in the department.
Main duties of the job
Applicants will have a DCR or BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or the UK equivalent and HCPC registration, whilst having proven MRI skills and NHS experience desirable.
Applicants should have good communication skills, the ability to multi-task and work as part of our existing team. IV cannulation training is provided alongside a comprehensive induction package to ensure you are supported to cover all specialised scanning and post graduate education is encouraged.

The contract on offer is based with MR, rotational across all 3 sites within Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, 37.5 hours per week, over 3 days, including weekends.
Participation on the MR on call rota out of hours is also expected after an induction period, which requires individual MR radiographers to cover 1 to 2 on call shifts in every 5 week rota.
