Job overview

We are looking to appoint a 2-year fixed term, locum 10PA Locum Consultant in Pain Management to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust based at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital. Condensed hours and flexible working patterns will be considered for this post, and it is recommended that any candidate contacts the department ahead of applying to discuss this.

Main duties of the job

This appointee will work with colleagues to be responsible for the provision of comprehensive Pain Management services at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. The successful candidate will work flexibly and co-operatively with other members of the team in order to provide a high quality, comprehensive service within this teaching hospital environment. 
 
The successful candidate will work according to the terms and conditions of the new consultant contract.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered with the GMC with a licence to practice.
  • FFPM, RCoA or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • MD or PhD or equivalent
  • Name on the specialist register for relevant specialty or eligible within 6 months of the date of the interview. If an applicant is UK trained, they must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.

Research

Essential criteria
  • Ability to critically assess published research and incorporate it into clinical practice where appropriate
Desirable criteria
  • Publications in Peer reviewed journals.

Continuous Professional Development

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of participation in CME/CPD in the last 12 months
Desirable criteria
  • Maintenance of a CPD diary or portfolio

Personal attributes

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrates behaviour consistent with PROUD values (see appendix)
  • Good oral and written communication skills

Management and Administration

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of the understanding of the systems and structures of NHS Management

Clinical experience

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work as an independent practitioner within Pain Management.
  • Understanding of the scope of practice of conservative and interventional Pain Management.

Teaching and training

Essential criteria
  • Experience of teaching student doctors and doctors in training at all levels.

Clinical governance and audit

Essential criteria
  • Experience in performing clinical audit
