Exciting Opportunity: Labour Ward Manager at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.
We are delighted to offer an experienced labour Ward Midwife, with a passion to promote personalised maternity care, provide effective management and leadership, the opportunity to join us as Labour Ward Manager at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. You will be pivotal in supporting and co-ordinating the department in delivering a high standard of evidence-based care for birthing people and their families.
You will provide clinical and professional leadership to midwifery, nursing, admin, and support workers, maximising job satisfaction for the team.
The successful candidate will work within a multi disciplinary team to ensure women receive seamless maternity care. They will also provide a specialist and advanced contribution to the provision of maternity services ensuring delivery of high calibre care and efficient use of facilities, manpower and other resources.

Main duties of the job
You will be a visible and credible clinical leader, promoting compassionate leadership within the labour ward whilst engaging your team to improve standards of care.
You will have excellent communication skills and will inspire your team with your drive and passion for developing people and services.
Lead by example and empower staff in their personal and professional development.
Work alongside and support the labour ward team in a clinical capacity when required, being an expert practitioner to guide and advise the multi-disciplinary team as required.
Take the lead role in ensuring the environmental and ward processes are responsive to the needs of women and birthing individuals, providing assurance through agreed mechanisms.

Essential criteria
- Practising Midwife
- NMC registered
- To have completed the national practice assessor training or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
- Continuous professional development
- First degree, working towards or equivalent experience.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive Midwifery Experience on the Labour Ward environment, with experience coordinating the labour ward
- Ability to lead, motivate and develop a professional team
- Ability to prioritise and work as a team member. Leadership skills.
- Experience in antenatal and postnatal care
Desirable criteria
- Academic courses relevant to role Leadership/management
