Acute Therapy Services provides occupational therapy and physiotherapy to support the recovery and rehabilitation of patients across our core set of medical and surgical wards, specialist units and outpatients. This is a large and diverse clinical department operating across the acute hospitals of the Trust and working closely with therapists in MSK and our community services. 

We are looking for a new Head of Acute Therapy Services to replace the current post-holder who is retiring. This is a prominent clinical leadership role and to succeed you will need to have substantial clinical and leadership experience in the acute NHS sector, a deep understanding of the role of occupational therapy and physiotherapy across acute pathways, and the ability to articulate a collective ambition for the service that empowers staff and drives development and innovation.

Qualifications

  • MSc in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy, or, BSc in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy plus evidence of Master’s level study or currently be working towards, or be able to demonstrate the equivalent level of advanced study, learning or training or the equivalent level of practice
  • Current HCPC registration as an OT or PT

  • Master’s level degree in a specialist OT or PT field.
  • Management qualification.

Experience

  • Substantial and significant experience of clinical practice in the NHS
  • Management of patients in a range of specialist clinical areas, and in group and individual settings
  • Responsibility for professional leadership and operational manage¬ment of an OT/PT team
  • Planning and delivering successful organisational change and service improvement
  • Working across multiple professional and organisational boundaries
  • Involvement in research, audit and service evaluation
  • Teaching, training and clinical supervision of clinical staff and students
  • Managing a devolved budget
  • Development of policies, procedures and strategies

  • Experience of writing service plans, business cases and proposals
  • Contributing to procurement process and commissioning plans
  • Professional activity at regional or national level
  • Oral presentations at conferences

Further Training
