Job overview

We have an excellent clinical pharmacy training programme, tailored to develop your clinical skills, and meet individual needs. This provides a foundation for undertaking a two-year MSc/PG Diploma in Foundation Pharmacy Practice with University of Bradford. Post diploma we can offer exciting opportunities for career advancement and personal development including independent pharmacist prescribing, in-house advanced pharmacist development programme, masters, research, and audit.

The post registration foundation pharmacist team delivers the pharmacy out of hours service. The team work on a shift rota and gain experience of working at both main hospital sites. Comprehensive induction, training and support is provided for all new staff prior to starting out of hours working.

Main duties of the job

Our post registration foundation pharmacists gain clinical rotational experience across a full range of specialities, as well as departmental rotations through dispensaries, aseptic and medicines information services.

Post diploma we can offer exciting opportunities for career advancement and personal development including independent pharmacist prescribing, in-house advanced pharmacist development programme, masters, research, and audit.

To provide advice on the safe and effective use of medicinal products.

To provide pharmacy departmental services including out of hours services on a shift pattern.

To participate in the ward based clinical pharmacy services.

To undertake appropriate post registration training and development including a MSc/PGDip/PGCert Clinical Pharmacy (Secondary Care).

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • MPharm in pharmacy
  • General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) registered pharmacist (or expected to be on the register by the time the post is taken up).
Desirable criteria
  • 2:1 degree

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant foundation training experience
  • Understanding of pharmacy out of hours services
Desirable criteria
  • More than 3/12 UK hospital foundation training experience

Skills and Knowledge

  • Completion of clinical and professional sections of the UKMI training portal
