Sheffield Teaching Hospitals are looking for enthusiastic, passionate, caring Physiotherapists to join our Therapy teams. This is an exciting opportunity for you to be part of patient centred, transformational service delivery.

We have permanent and fixed term opportunities

We offer 6-month rotations that will support you to gain a wide range of experience and learning opportunities across a variety of specialisms and environments.  You will develop and consolidate your early career skills and knowledge whilst working within a dynamic and supportive team.  The rotations are based across Trust sites, which includes the Northern General Hospital, Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Weston Park Hospital and a wide range of community settings within Sheffield.  Sheffield Teaching Hospitals delivers multiple specialist and regional services and we’re a fantastic place to start or develop your Physiotherapy career.

Throughout your rotations you’ll have guidance, supervision, training and support from the wider team to help you manage your caseload and develop key transferable foundation skills. We have a comprehensive development framework that will support you to evidence your progression and identify areas for development. 

 

Main duties of the job

To deliver a physiotherapy service to patients within a variety of settings, requiring flexibility/adaptability in recognising the complexity of these environments.

To carry a clinical caseload, planning and prioritising own work and seeking assistance and guidance when needed.

To work as part of a range of multidisciplinary teams providing personalised assessment, interventions and advice. You will need strong communication and personal skills to optimise multidisciplinary working and deliver the best care for our patients.  

You will have opportunities to participate/contribute to activities across the 4-pilllars of practice including service development and student training.

Several services run over 7 days (including Saturday, Sunday, and bank holidays). The successful candidate may be expected to contribute to a 7-day therapy roster or different working patterns.

Two posts on this vacancy are advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of 9 months due to the post being recruited as part of a limited term project within the Trust. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts taking into consideration the requirement for the post to be maintained as a part of the project’s implementation and the timescales associated with this.

Please also note any secondment must first be agreed with your current line manager.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc/Diploma/Degree Apprenticeship/MSc in Physiotherapy
  • Current HCPC registration or in process of gaining

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Student placement experience/unregistered/registered clinical workforce experience in NHS Acute/Community clinical areas
  • Can demonstrate knowledge of the physiotherapy role in relation to the rotations offered by the Trust
Desirable criteria
  • Work or life experience in healthcare or teaching practical skills
  • Work or life experience in organising and managing multiple tasks
  • Clinical Governance or Health & Safety

Further Training

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of continuous personal & professional development relevant to this role.
  • Good basic knowledge of physiotherapy practice within acute and community settings.
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence-Based Practice
