Job overview

The Department of Renal Medicine is looking to appoint a Locum Appointed Service (LAS) doctor working at the level of equivalent of ST3+ registrar from as soon as possible to 3rd February 2026. Full MRCP and up-to date ALS certification is essential.  The post does not award a National Training Number.  As this post is not recognised as a ‘training post’, full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required. The posts are not recognised “training posts” and do not award a National Training Number. Duties are equivalent to ST3+ level.

Main duties of the job

The appointee will be responsible for the day-to-day management of inpatients on the nephrology wards. This will involve giving consistent and planned support for other junior staff. They may also be expected to provide medical support for dialysis patients at any of the hospital based or satellite dialysis units. In addition, the appointee will be allocated to do 1-2 outpatient clinics per week.

Working for our organisation

Located on rolling hills and dissected by river valleys, Sheffield is one of the greenest and most wooded cities in Europe. More than a third of the city lies inside the beautiful Peak District National Park, and it is virtually surrounded by open countryside. Its central location and excellent transport links also means it is less than two hours from most major metropolitan areas.

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts. This is an exceptional opportunity to join an award winning and internationally recognised team, with a focus on innovation, research and high-quality care, as well as family friendly working, and we are keen to discuss with individuals about how we can support their ambitions.
