About the Role
This is an exciting and rare opportunity for an experienced and dynamic leader to join Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as Strategy and Partnerships Director.
This is a pivotal role within the organisation, responsible for shaping and delivering strategic initiatives that will define the future of healthcare across our region.
As part of the Strategy Directorate, you will lead on the development and implementation of key organisational strategies, including our first Clinical Strategy – Care 2035 – and the renewal of our Corporate Strategy. You will also drive forward our approach to partnerships, sustainability, and commercial development, ensuring these priorities are embedded across the Trust.
About You
We are looking for a senior leader with:
- Significant management experience in a senior role reporting to Board level.
- Expert knowledge and experience of strategic development and planning within a complex operating environment.
- Strong influencing and negotiating skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across organisational boundaries.
- A proven track record of delivering strategic initiatives and managing change effectively.
Main duties of the job
- Lead the development and delivery of organisational strategy, including overseeing major strategic initiatives, including Care 2035 and refreshing our Corporate Strategy.
- Lead the organisation’s business planning processes, including development the Trust’s annual business plan
- Shape and strengthen partnerships across South Yorkshire and beyond.
- Drive sustainability initiatives aligned to our strategic objective to Create a Sustainable Organisation.
- Support the Chief Strategy Officer in ensuring organisational viability and excellence.
- Act as Deputy for the Chief Strategy Officer when required.
- Manage the Directorate budget and ensure delivery of agreed commercial targets.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of a maximum of twelve months due to maternity leave of the substantive post holder. - Track record of leading innovation and change to support the delivery of patient centred services across organisational boundaries
- Experience of managing budgets within a complex financial regimen and delivery, especially in constrained financial circumstances.
- Significant Capital Planning experience in managing strategic and complex projects across a range of different services.
- Experience of leading, preparing and writing business cases for major developments and their delivery
- Sound understanding of the wider NHS policy agenda and demonstrable ability to translate national and local policy into action
- Evidence of contribution to a wider corporate agenda.
- Experience of peer review or accreditation processes for services.
- Experience of managing the HR environment of a multi-disciplinary workforce, application of organisational policies, wider employment law and practice.
