Job overview
We are looking to appoint a whole-time Locum Consultant Vascular Surgeon to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is a fixed term post for 12 months.
We would welcome applications from candidates across the full spectrum of experience, from those who have recently completed training to those who have well-established careers.
Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.
Should any further vacancies arise shortlisted applicants will be considered.
Main duties of the job
The appointee will, together with Consultant colleagues, be responsible for the provision of outpatient clinics, inpatient and day case operating lists, and attendance at MDTs and ward rounds.
The successful candidate will work according to the terms and conditions of the national Consultant Contract.
Opportunities are available for a successful candidate with appropriate training and experience to help develop the endovascular service from vascular surgery perspective in partnership with existing vascular surgeons, and in collaboration with the Vascular Radiologists. The other area for development in the service is the diabetic foot disease in the multidisciplinary setting and “hot” vascular limb salvage clinics, and candidates interested in this area will also be considered for this post
Working for our organisation

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts. This is an exceptional opportunity to join an award winning and internationally recognised team, with a focus on innovation, research and high quality care, as well as family friendly working, and we are keen to discuss with individuals about how we can support their ambitions.
