Job overview
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner to work in our developing Primary Care Mental Health Practitioner Team. The role will be based in the East Staffs Primary Care Network working in Burton and Uttoxeter.
We welcome applications from staff who have one of the following professional backgrounds; nursing, occupational therapy, or social work, and who are interested in creating a responsive and holistic mental health service within a primary care setting. Applicants must be fully qualified in the appropriate profession and registered with the relevant professional body.

Main duties of the job
- To take responsibility for providing holistic assessment, care and treatment to clients referred to the Primary Mental Health Service.
- Foster robust working relationships with all partners in particular GP’s, Practice Nurses, other primary care Staff and third sector services.
- Provision of support and advice to GPs and other primary care providers (such as practice nurses) to enable them to safely manage and care for people with mental health problems.
- Contribute to the continuing improvement and development of Primary Mental Health Services.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Professional qualification relevant to Adult Mental Health i.e. RMN, OT, Social Worker, Therapist.
Desirable criteria
- Specialist Mental Health Training e.g. Assessment.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of extensive post qualification experience of working with adults experiencing mental health related difficulties
- Experience of assessing, planning, co-ordinating and managing the care of people with mental health problems
Desirable criteria
- Experience working with people engaging in high risk behaviours and self-harm
- Experience of working in community setting and making decisions autonomously
Applicant requirements
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
