We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 dietitian to join our Specialist Adult Dietetic Service covering South Staffordshire. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a friendly team in a dynamic NHS community setting and would be suitable for an experienced band 6 or a band 5 dietitian with at least 1 year’s experience who is ready to specialise in diabetes and weight management.

Main duties of the job

The postholder’s role, may include face to face or telephone clinics, home visits, diabetic pump clinic MDT, carbohydrate counting workshops, emotional eating and behaviour change group workshops.  This is a specialist role so dependant on experience we can offer training and support to develop the skills to meet the needs of the job.

 

The successful candidate will receive regular clinical supervision as well as opportunities for CPD and personal development, including trust beyond preceptorship program.  This post will be based in Cannock or Tamworth with an element of working from home, but the ability to travel independently between venues across Staffordshire.

The post holder will be part of the Allied Health Professionals (AHP) workforce, undertaking a specialist role in delivering and evaluating specialist dietetic therapy as part of the wider multidisciplinary care team.

 

This is a dynamic post that requires the post holder to provide dietary counselling and education to improve knowledge, management skills and confidence in both service users and other health care professionals. This will involve predominantly managing a diabetes and weight management caseload using evidence-based, patient-centred principles to assess, plan, implement, monitor and evaluate interventions

Qualifications & Training

Essential criteria
  • Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent
  • Current HCPC Registration
  • Relevant Specialist Post Graduate qualification and/or courses and/or development (e.g. professionally recognised courses in specialist area)
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • Full UK driver licence
Desirable criteria
  • Modules at Masters level
  • Evidence of further clinical study in mental health dietetic therapies, obesity and frailty
  • Evidence of relevant post graduate courses in relevant area. Current BDA Registration
  • Attendance at relevant Special Interest Groups
  • Up to date field work/pre-registration student training
  • Member of a British Dietetic Association Specialist group

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Clinical experience across a variety of specialities, including diabetes and weight management
  • Relevant experience to the role including assessment and management of various conditions within the area of clinical speciality
  • Ability to manage time and caseload effectively
  • Supporting service users, families and carers in dealing with issues within the area of clinical speciality
  • Working in a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience of providing training and education for others (patients/carers, health professionals and other community health workers from various organisations)
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of negotiation and conflict management in clinical situations
