Job overview
This permanent post are full-time 37.5 hours per week and would be a wonderful opportunity for a newly qualified podiatrist. You will be working with a team of podiatrists and podiatry assistants covering a population of approximately 250,000.
You will be supported to work as an autonomous practitioner assessing; diagnosing; care planning; and reviewing child and adult patients with a multitude of clinical conditions. Our advanced practitioners in biomechanics, paediatrics, rehabilitation, rheumatology, diabetes & wound care provide expert help and advice and offer mentorship programs to all staff. The Midlands partnership Trust offers Oxleas preceptorship development opportunities. The service works closely with district nursing teams, tissue viability nurses, consultant lead multidisciplinary clinics, allied health professionals and local integrated teams.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking a Podiatrist who has excellent interpersonal and communication skills, who are able to work on their own as well as part of a team. A commitment to patient care to assist patients to achieve their potential is essential. You will be encouraged to take part in various CPD activities including clinical support, supportive supervision and in-house training during team meetings. You should have the ability to travel around the district.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- To adhere to and apply the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) standards of proficiency, standards of conduct, performance and ethics, and the college of podiatry code of conduct and all other relevant guidance from the HCPC, and the Trust.
- To establish and maintain effective working relationships both within the Partnership Trust and with external organisations in order to meet service requirements and support and demonstrate the Trust’s equality values
- To assess new service user referrals and care/support needs. Assesses service users and formulates, develops, implements and evaluates programmes of treatment /care/support for individuals, families and carers. The care/support plans may include the following:
· Promoting independence/self-management and maintaining safety
· Increased functional ability
· Improvement in health and wellbeing including mental health
· Interventions in disease/condition management
· Prevention and reducing of health inequalities
· Admission avoidance
· Early supported discharge
· Case management/ treatment/ care plans

QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Essential criteria
- Degree level relevant professional qualification or equivalent
- Registration with HCPC
- Evidence of/willing to undertake post-registration training relevant to the post.
- Evidence of Continued professional development since graduation
EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
- Relevant experience /placements to the role.
- Ability to manage time and caseload effectively
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in the in Community.
- Relevant placements including musculoskeletal/orthopaedics, paediatrics, diabetes, rheumatology, nail surgery, dermatology and wound care.
- Working in a multidisciplinary team
- Supporting service users, families and carers in dealing with the impacts of disability
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
Essential criteria
- Evidence of clinical knowledge relevant to the post
- Understanding of Information Governance, Data Protection, HCPC standards and Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults
- Working across hospital and community settings and can travel within a geographical area to meet the requirements of the post.
- Basic IT Skills
- Initiate, and participate in networks and discussion groups
- Discharge and transfer individuals where appropriate
- Prioritise treatment and care for individuals according to their health status and needs
- Determine a treatment plan for an individual.
- Provide clinical information to individuals
- Ability to manage time and clinical Commitments.
- Flexibility with working hours
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of clinical knowledge relevant to the post.
- Understanding of Information Governance, Data Protection, HCPC standards and Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults/Children
- Awareness of standardised assessment tools and outcome measures.
- Awareness of relevant NSF’s and NICE guidance
