Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Stoke NHS Talking Therapy Service, a Primary Care Psychological Therapy Service in Stoke on Trent offering innovative and effective treatments for a broad range of mental health problems in primary care, focusing on anxiety disorders and depression.
We are looking to recruit a number of apprentice Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWP). You should have significant paid experience working in a mental health setting. If successful you will be nominated and supported to apply for an apprentice PWP course with Staffordshire University in the 2025/26 cohort .
If successful, you will be funded to work as an apprentice PWP within the Stoke NHS Talking Therapies Service employed by Changes Health and Wellbeing Service. You must be in a position to submit an application to the university in good time to participate in their selection process.
Main duties of the job
Patient-centred assessments which identifies areas where the person wishes to see change and or recovery and makes an accurate assessment of risk to self and others.
Ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to the employer and any regulating bodies and keep up to date on new recommendations/guidelines set by the department of health (e.g. NHS plan, National Service Framework, National Institute for Clinical Excellence).
Deliver evidence based paychological interventions and prepare and present clinical information for all patients on their caseload to their clinical supervisors on an agreed and scheduled basis, in order to ensure safe practice and to meet the requirements of the course. This will ensure that clinical governance obligations of the post holder, supervisor and service are met

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post-holder will work as a trainee / apprentice within the Stoke NHS Talking Therapies Service providing high volume low intensity interventions which will be a range of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based self-management interventions to clients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression.
The post holder will undertake the PWP apprenticeship course.
The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.
