Leicester Sexual Health Service is a 6 day a week service and the post holder will be required to be flexible to service needs including working evenings and one Saturday a month.

This developmental post is an opportunity to undertake a structured and supported learning pathway which will provide skills and competence to work within a busy integrated sexual health environment. The post holder will assess, plan and deliver key aspects of sexual health care depending on the knowledge, skills and experience of the practitioner, and it is expected that care delivery will evolve through learning and development. Service delivery will include the promotion/issuing of all methods of contraception, screening for sexual transmitted infections (STIs), perform diagnostic procedures and provide treatment and management of STIs in line with BASHH and NICE guidance.  The post holder will be supported to complete training in all aspects of sexual health within a two year time scale.

Main duties of the job

The role will support the provision of care within the Sexual Health Service and work as part of a team and independently in nurse-led clinics. The post holder will provide a quality and holistic service and be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the care needs of service users.

The post holder will be an enthusiastic and innovative individual, possessing excellent communication and organisational skills including a non-judgemental attitude whilst offering screening for sexually transmitted infections, providing advice, information, counselling and education on contraception and sexual health issues.
