Senior Employment Support Advisor - North Talking Therapies

Job overview
We are delighted to offer an opportunity for a Senior Employment Advisor to join our Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Talking Therapies Service based in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
The aim of this role is focused on assisting individuals aged 16 and above with anxiety disorders and/or depression to gain or retain employment using a NICE-approved package of care. You will provide tailored support that varies depending on the client's specific needs. This may involve assisting young people with further education applications, supporting individuals returning to work after long periods of unemployment, helping clients who have never worked to gain employment, and providing guidance to those who have been off sick to return to work.
As part of this role you will require ongoing training and development and you will be required to work towards the Level 4 Employment Advice in Primary Mental Healthcare Qualification.
This role is 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and may require you to accommodate some service users with evening appointments.
You will be expected to adequately travel across a large geographical area across North Staffordshire.
Main duties of the job
As part of this role you will:
- Supervise and line-manage a team of Employment Advisors to deliver the Employment Support programme.
- Meet regularly with practitioners and therapists to co-ordinate and integrate vocational services into psychological therapies.
- Responsible for managing own caseload of service users who have mild-moderate mental health problems and who are currently unemployed and who wish to return to work.
- Signpost service users to partner organisations for additional support where appropriate, e.g. basic skills, IT training, psychological therapy, confidence building, vocational training.
- Assist service users to improve job search and job securement techniques, including CV/application form/ letter writing/ interview skills, personal presentation and presentation skills.
- Design and lead group workshops for service users to improve their employability skills and knowledge.
- Support service users into one or more of a range of opportunities, depending on individual need, e.g. work experience, voluntary work and paid work, in line with agreed targets.

- Level 3/4 Qualification in IAG/Employability Skills
Experience
Essential criteria
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience of supporting people with employment who have experienced mental health problems within health, social services, the voluntary sector or mainstream educational services.
- An in-depth understanding of the employment needs and difficulties of people who experience mental health problems.
