Job overview

An exciting opportunity for a Community Phlebotomist to join our Community Phlebotomy team based at Bentilee Neighbourhood Centre, Stoke on Trent.

You will be well motivated team players who are passionate about providing high quality care to patients. You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to organise and prioritise your workload without direct supervision.

Experience of phlebotomy or community working is desirable, but not essential. There will be opportunities for training and personal development available for the appointed person.

Our Community Phlebotomists work throughout Newcastle Under Lyme, Stoke and Staffordshire Moorlands providing home visits to patients who are housebound. The teams cover a large geographical area so ability to travel independently between patients' homes and the surrounding area is essential.

Main duties of the job

Our Community Phlebotomists work independently under the supervision of the Community Nursing Team, obtaining blood samples from patients in their own homes.

As part of this role, you will be expected to:

  • Obtain consistently high-quality blood samples for subsequent laboratory analysis.
  • Work independently/lone working
  • Keep accurate and up to date records.
  • Escalate of concerns
  • Undertake training
