Job overview
UHNM are looking for a Specialty Doctor in ENT. The successful candidate will work closely with the ENT Consultants who provide a first class service. The ENT team undertake both surgical and clinical work following the surge of clinical activity and support the reduction of the backlog following the Covid-19 pandemic. Work will be based at both the Royal Stoke and County Hospitals.
This appointment is a 12 month post. It is expected that the successful applicant will gain consultant level competency in all aspects of Head and Neck surgery, including the management of complications, therefore applicants will be expected to have a good level of knowledge and skills already from higher surgical training or equivalent. It is essential to show a commitment to training in Head and Neck surgery, be good communicator and team player. Prior experience in the form of audit or research is desirable.
Main duties of the job
To provide an exceptional level of care for our patients presenting with problems requiring ENT in an outpatient and theatre environment. The appointee will join the existing ENT medical team to:
Support a comprehensive outpatient service within ENT
Treat patients with conditions requiring ENT Surgery
Continue clinical responsibility for patients in your charge
Work with colleagues in other professions and support inter-disciplinary work
Triage of patients and safely discharge patients, when appropriate

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MRCS or equivalent qualification FRCS (ORL- HNS)
- Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at time of application
Desirable criteria
- ATLS/ALCS/Paed ACLS Presentations/Publications
Experience
Essential criteria
- CCT or equivalent training
- Able to deal with general Head and Neck and ENT emergency admissions
- Evidence of participation in research
- Logbook indicating validated experience of appropriate range and number of clinical procedures
Desirable criteria
- Research in Head and Neck
- Attendance of relevant ENT training courses
- Undergraduate or postgraduate teaching experience
