UHNM has created a post to support the Assistant Director for Safeguarding Assurance and Risk management The Quality Assurance Safeguarding Officer will be providing Trust‑wide leadership in safeguarding assurance and the management of Persons in a Position of Trust (PIPOT) cases from triage to closure. The post‑holder will deliver high‑quality audit, compliance monitoring and risk oversight across sexual safety, chaperoning and safeguarding standards for managing allegations against persons in a position of Trust. This role is ideal for an experienced safeguarding professional with string analytical, leadership and communication skills
Main duties of the job
Key Duties/Responsibilities
1. Audit and Assurance
-
Develop, maintain and evaluate safeguarding assurance tools aligned to legislation, CQC KLOEs and NHS England expectations.

Develop audit tools to monitor compliance with relevant policies
-
Undertake safeguarding audit programme aligned to relevant policies - chaperoning, managing allegations against Persons in a Position of Trust and sexual misconduct

Deliver thematic reviews, deep dives and organisational learning reports

Analyse audit data to identify lessons learnt and recommendations
2. Data Analysis & Reporting:

Produce safeguarding dashboards, heat maps and analytical reports

Identify themes, patterns and risks requiring escalation.

Collate data and produce monthly/quarterly reports on safeguarding assurance risk management activity aligned to managing allegations against persons in apposition of trust and sexual safety
3. Quality Improvement & Governance:
• Lead improvements arising from audit outcomes.
• Support CQC readiness and organisational evidence submissions.
• Monitor action plans and compliance frameworks

Contribute to governance processes, audits, benchmarking and risk identification related to People

Support managers to apply people policies and minimise organisational risk

4. Multi‑Agency Working:

Represent UHNM in multi‑agency safeguarding audits and subgroups

Support partnership learning reviews

Work in partnership with system partners and external agencies for managing allegations against persons in a position of Trust /sexual misconduct concerns.
5. PiPoT Allegation Management:
-
Support the Assistant Director for Safeguarding/risk management with the daily operational management of allegations against people in positions of trust in line with policy

Work collaboratively with HR People teams (Business partners/People operations managers and Assistant Directors (People Team)

Ensure accurate recording, risk assessment and investigation oversight

Ensure risk management and mitigation plans are in place

Escalation of cases and robust reporting and communication

- 5 years plus working in safeguarding role

- masters degree qualification or equivalent
