Job overview
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, person centred, Specialist Physiotherapist, with great leadership and interpersonal skills.
You will be leading a high-quality Physiotherapy service to adults with mental health difficulties who are current inpatient at the redwoods Hospital in Shrewsbury.
You will lead a highly specialist physiotherapy service to adults with Complex mental health difficulties and comorbidities, undertaking clinical diagnoses, assessment and physiotherapeutic management and interventions.
Deliver a high standard of care using a holistic evidence-based person centred approach on a daily basis. The role will be split equally between clinical practice and providing clinical leadership, teaching and supervision to members of the physiotherapy and multi-disciplinary members across all wards at the Redwoods Centre ranging from Acute care to Older adult acute and dementia.
You will be an autonomous practitioner, holding a small mixed clinical caseload of those with mobility, postural management and respiratory needs. Working without direct supervision within the context of a multi-disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
- Be professionally accountable for all aspects of own work, including caseload management and direct clinical care. To work within the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists and Health and Care Professionals Councils code of conduct and scope of practise.
- Obtain and record informed consent from clients at each contact in accordance with Trust policy.
- Carry out comprehensive specialist Physiotherapy assessments for clients with complex learning and physical health needs. Interpret clinical information and data related to clinical parameters along with non-clinical information and use clinical reasoning skills to accurately diagnose and develop specific treatment plans.
- Provide specialist advice to other professionals or single assessments to meet clients’ holistic care needs.
- Formulate and deliver individual treatment plans based on specialist knowledge, evidence-based practise, national and local guidelines using profession-specific clinical skills and techniques. (E.g. 1:1 interventions, carer education, patient education).
- Maintain and share up to date knowledge of Physiotherapy assessment and intervention evidence base developments for this client group.
- Maintain and share up to date knowledge of instrumental assessment available and to be able to signpost to services that assess and provide this.
