An opportunity has become available for an experienced Nurse to join the Mental Health Senior Leadership Team, as Professional Lead for Nursing for a fixed term period to cover a secondment opportunity as per job description. 

The professional lead is accountable to the Chief Nurse and an integral team member of the Trust wide Nurse professional leadership team. The professional leadership team is responsible for delivering Nursing strategy and priorities into the care group, to support high quality effective Nursing practice. 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for establishing professional leadership for Nurses working in mental health function and perinatal services, in accordance with Trust values, ensuring the delivery of effective, efficient and high quality services for patients and their families/carers.

They will work in conjunction with the Function and Care Group SLT to develop and deliver safe and effective services, in accordance with key national targets, clinical standards and service priorities. The post holder will participate in the Trust wide Nursing leadership structure, contributing and implementing Nursing delivery plans and representing the Care Group on Nursing developments. The post holder will be expected to work with other Senior Nursing staff across the Care Group to deliver these objectives. The post holder will provide Trust wide specialist professional advice according to professional clinical qualification and deputise for Nursing senior leadership team colleagues as appropriate.

The post holder will be expected to provide direct clinical care alongside their Professional Leadership role.

The successful candidate will be NMC registered and have Mental Health experience. They will be committed to improving the lives of our young people and families. They will have excellent communication skills and will be a compassionate and value based leader.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Masters level qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Current NMC registration as a Registered Mental Health Nurse
  • Post graduate qualification in nursing related subject

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Proven experience in a NHS, social care or equivalent environment within a relevant (children and families) mental health setting
  • Experience of working effectively across different agencies and with other disciplines
  • Experience of providing clinical advice and support to other professionals.
  • Experience of developing services and staff, delivering tangible service improvements in an efficiency driven environment.
  • Experience of providing clinical information and advice to others, including the development of services and staff.
Desirable criteria
  • Recent clinical practice within a CAMHS setting.
  • Qualification in project management or relevant experience.
  • Providing an effective contribution to workforce planning.
  • Developing successful business cases in support of organisational change and service redesign.
