Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual from the nursing, midwifery or AHP with a professional registration to join the UHNM Simulation Team at the Postgraduate Medical Centre at County Hospital. The successful candidate will be part of a growing team delivering simulation training to meet the needs of Foundation Doctors and other staff groups working at the University Hospitals of North Midlands (UHNM) NHS Trust .

Main duties of the job

The post holder will predominantly be based at the Postgraduate Medical Centre, County Hospital in Stafford, delivering  simulation activities in the purpose-built Extended Reality Lab (ERL).  The Lab provides a flexible immersive learning environment by creating real-world settings through the use of cutting-edge technology to project 360-degree video onto four walls.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will work under the direction of the Senior Simulation Educator (SSE) to deliver high quality multi-professional simulation and skills-based education to Postgraduate Doctors, Nurses and other professions allied to medicine and the multidisciplinary teams.  The post holder will predominantly be focussed on simulation-based training of Foundation Doctors at the Postgraduate Medical Centre, County Hospital.  However, the post holder will also be expected to contribute to delivery of simulation training for other groups across all UHNM sites.  This would include travel to Royal Stoke University Hospital site and other locations depending on the needs of the simulation programme.

Essential Criteria

Essential criteria
  • Holds professional registration (eg NMC, HCPC)
  • Holds a degree or diploma
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant Teaching/mentoring award
  • Holds ILS (or equivalent qualification)

Knowledge, skills, training and experience

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of practice based teaching
  • Evidence of a minimum of 3 years clinical practice in a relevant field of work
  • Knowledge and understanding of simulation-based education
Desirable criteria
  • An understanding of AR/VR and other Technology Enhanced Learning methods

Personal Qualities

Essential criteria
  • Ability to carry out the physical requirements of the job
  • Willing to travel between Royal Stoke and County sites and other areas required
