An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of Sterile Services Team Leader working at the County HSDU , cover will also be provided at the Royal Stoke site as required. 

This is a fully flexible job role and shift patterns may be changed at short notice.

The post holder will work on a rota basis  37.5 hours a week.

Shift Patterns:

Predominantly working Twilight 14.00 - 22.00 hrs plus working weekends on a rota basis and cover on days or nights as and when required.


Pay scale – Band 4 plus enhancement pay after 20:00 as per Agenda for Change terms and conditions

The Hospital Sterilisation and Disinfection Unit  services includes, the supply and maintenance of surgical instruments used in surgical and medical procedures. These items are checked into the department after use, they are cleaned, disinfected, packaged, sterilised and delivered back to operating theatres, wards, departments, clinics and GP surgeries.   This will involve manual handling of heavy sets, pushing and pulling of trolleys and the operation of equipment used in the processing cycle.

Main duties of the job

This Team Leader role requires the post holder to be a fully qualified or an experienced Technician, with at least two years experience. 

Flexibility with hours is needed to provide cover across  the twilight shifts which operate between 14:00 - 22:00 in order to deliver the necessary support.

The role provides assistance to the Production Coordinator with the progression and monitoring of production to our customers.  Ensuring that procedures and quality standards are maintained at all times in line with the quality management system.

To provide first line management support to the team dealing with all staffing and production issues quickly and concisely to ensure the service needs are met.

To provide technical support to the Team as needed, gaining support from the Production Coordinators as required.
