The AHP Clinical Placement Team (AHPCPT) is delighted to be advertising to our dietetic colleagues the opportunity to join our team as a Clinical Placement Expansion Lead for Dietetics. Are you passionate about education and supporting the development of our next generation of dietitians? Do you want to develop your education, leadership and research skills? This role is perfect for someone who can work across a broad range of partners to deliver excellent outcomes for our dietetic teams and training pre-registration dietitians. This role is key to supporting the realisation of the NHSE Long Term Workforce Plan (2023) and ensure we have the clinical placement capacity for pre-registration training within the NHS.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will play a major role in expanding dietetic placement opportunities across MPFT engaging with key stakeholders, in the implementation and review of the dietetic ‘Fair Share’ placement model.
The post holder will work within the AHP Clinical Placement Team to develop and deliver a comprehensive project plan setting out key objectives/milestones, time lines for achievement to monitor and mitigate known and emergent risks in the on-going implementation of the ‘Fair Share’ model.
Map dietetic placement provision against local demand and escalate gaps and risks to AHP Professional Lead for workforce.
The post holder will develop, in partnership with clinical teams who employ dietitians, a placement expansion plan. This will look at inter-professional/multidisciplinary educational approach to placement and adopting innovative and new models to support placements in line with professional educational requirements/standards, as set out by the HCPC taking into consideration the impact of new ways of working in relation to governance and HR issues, including utilising dietetic assistants and assistant practitioners to support learning and development.
Support the development and delivery of an MPFT action plan to deliver against the AHP Educator Career Framework. Quality assuring students undertaking AHP clinical placements in MPFT are appropriately trained and have access to continual professional development in line with AHP student education.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder under the leadership of the AHP Clinical Placement Quality Lead and AHP Professional Lead for Workforce will:
Be responsible for delivering on MPFT’s dietetic ‘Fair Share’ placement expansion programme.
Work closely with partner provider organisations, placement leads and HEIs providing dietetic pre-registration courses to support and achieve local practice placement expansion priorities for their profession. This will include apprenticeships.
Undertake placement capacity mapping internally within MPFT.
Lead and implement innovative models of student clinical placement education in practice within MPFT and facilitate the sharing of this practice with other dietitians.
Work to quality ensure, evidence based student clinical placements are delivered by appropriately trained clinical educators in MPFT supporting the delivery of AHP Educator Career Framework and BDA Curriculum Framework for the pre-registration education and training of dietitians.
Create an equitable and accessible environment that enables AHP learners to access their clinical placement who have a variety of learning needs such as neurodiversity and or dyslexia and evaluate the impact of this through student feedback and the national education and training survey.

QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Essential criteria
- Bsc/MSc Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent
- Practice Education and Learning Training
Desirable criteria
- Masters Degree/PG Cert in Health Education/ Skills, Learning or Teaching qualifications.
EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
- Experience of teaching staff and students and coordinating student placements.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
