Job overview
There is an exciting opportunity, for a senior clinical band 3 nursing assistant to join the team on ward 109.
We are a 26 bedded surgical ward, who pride themselves in team work to enable us to deliver a varied range of surgical pathways to our service users. We are a upper and lower gastro intestinal ward who care for patient pre and post operatively, also admissions from surgical assessment unit, surgical special care and critical care unit.

Main duties of the job
The successful post holder will work with the guidance of the surgical team and be required
They will be instrumental in delivering personal care duties, supporting with mobility needs.
The team relies on our senior band 3 nursing assistants to deliver varied point of care testing, so the role will require band 3 specific clinical skills to be held.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To perform personal care needs for our service users following ward routine , to plan time effectively and to work well as a team player displaying effective communication at all times.
Have the ability to perform varied point of care testing including clinical observations and recording on vitals and paper, blood glucose monitoring, 12 lead ECG's, urine analysis strip tests, pregnancy testing, swabs, observing patients for signs of agitation or distress ( clinical holding/restraint ) , simple would dressings, removal of peripheral cannula's, taking MRSA swabs, supporting new staff buddy system, care certificate supervisor.
Person specification
Educated to GSCE level or equivalent, including Maths and English
Essential criteria
- Grade c or above
Desirable criteria
- NVQ level 3 Qualification or willingness to study at this level
Hold A Care Certificate
Essential criteria
- Possess and Show Care Certificate
Evidence of professional development activity undertaken in relevant areas
Essential criteria
- Certificates to evidence development and competencies
Desirable criteria
- Proficient in the use of Micro soft office, Word, Excel, and Power Point
Experience and/or qualifications in the specific area
Essential criteria
- Certificates
- 1 year experience working as a Nursing Assistant ideally in a hospital environment.
