The primary role of a Band 3 Senior Clinical Support Worker is to assist, support and work in collaboration with the Registered Nurse and the wider multidisciplinary team; in order to provide a safe and holistic approach to person-centred care. Main duties of the job

This role requires the following qualifications and documents to be provided as part of the recruitment and selection process for this role, if you are offered a role and unable to provide these documents, we are afraid the offer will be withdrawn:

  • GCSE’s or equivalent Certificate for Maths and English, equivalent to current Level 4/ C or level 2 functional skills Maths/English.
  • If you have completed your qualifications overseas you must apply or provide a ECCTIS compatibility statement
  • Completed Care Certificate

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Band 3 Senior Clinical Support Worker should actively contribute to the health and well-being of patients, staff and service users and be able to communicate effectively with sensitivity and  compassion. They should be able to work independently within their sphere of nursing while under the supervision of registered nurses. Band 3 Senior Clinical Support Workers should demonstrate a level of skill and understanding which enables them to undertake specific skills and tasks delegated by the registered nurse and in accordance with relevant procedures, guidelines and policies at UHNM. They will be required to undertake both routine and specially identified tasks for which they have been trained and assessed as competent.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to GSCE level or Level 2 equivalent, including Maths and English
  • Hold a Care Certificate
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ Level 3 Qualification in childcare or equivalent -
  • Evidence of professional development activity undertaken in relevant areas
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office: Word, Excel, access and PowerPoint

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 12 months care experience
  • Previous experience of working with children in a nursey, school or hospital setting
  • Excellent written and communication skills
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in an Acute Trust
  • Ability to manage time and achieve tasks in a timely manner
  • Ability to organise and follow systems and processes

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Effective communication skills to the Multi-Disciplinary Team, patients, relatives and their carers
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Able to use own initiative
Desirable criteria
  • Positive mindset in respect of supporting organisational change; learning, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to cover a variety of shifts over 7 days a week including weekends and bank holidays
  • Emotional resilience; the post holder will at times be exposed to distressing and emotional circumstances
