Job overview
We are delighted to be advertising the opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 CPN to join and strengthen our perinatal mental health team within the Parent and Baby day unit.
The post holder will deliver a high quality, comprehensive mental health service for mothers with serious and enduring mental health difficulties. The role involves managing a defined caseload, acting as a key member of the multi-disciplinary team, the post holder will provide assessment, psychosocial, evidence-based interventions using a collaborative approach and will be skilled at risk assessment and management. They will complement the multidisciplinary working of the team, providing supervision for other team members, as agreed with the Operational Manager. They will participate in team and service development and evaluation. Liaison, advice and consultation with a wide range of agencies is central to the role.
Main duties of the job
The role will involve supporting mums/ birthing people experiencing moderate to severe difficulties with their emotional wellbeing during the perinatal period. You will work alongside families, carers and other health professionals to provide high quality care, assessment and treatment.
The appointed individual will need to be innovative, compassionate and motivated. They will need to have a passion to support mothers and their families working in a person centred approach and make a positive contribution to service development. This is an opportunity to join our Team as we enter a time of new development in our service.
Support and interventions are delivered in a recovery focused way which promote independence and resilience, and deliver high quality outcomes for service users and their families.
The Parent and Baby unit day service operates from its base The Bennett Centre, Richmond Terrace, Shelton, S-O-T, ST1 4ND the day service is open from 8:30am until 4.30pm, Monday to Sunday.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To act as named nurse / care coordinator for a group of patients ensuring that appropriate interventions are planned and delivered according to assessed need. To promote a positive nurse patient relationship and to engage with carers / relatives as appropriate. To have responsibility for documenting the plans of care and ensuring that plans remain current and that standards of record keeping are adhered to.
To provide advice and education to junior staff and both patient and carers in respect of prescribed medicines.
Provide support and guidance to junior or less experienced staff in the planning and delivery of nursing care for individuals for whom they are named nurse / worker. To provide support to patients within this group at times when the named nurse / worker is unavailable. E.g. periods of annual leave sickness etc.

- A qualified/registered Mental Health nurse.
Experience

- Experience of working with a range of Statutory non-statutory agencies.
Knowledge

- Knowledge of various approaches to mental health assessment.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
