Job overview

The Specialist Adult Eating Disorders Service are looking to recruit a Band 7 Senior Therapist to cover maternity leave for 12 months.

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide a specialist CBT-e & IPT model of treatment to clients within the Specialist Adult Eating Disorders service (SAEDS)
  • Provide supervision to therapists within the SAEDS.
  • Act as Care co-ordinator for Eating Disorder Service clients, as appropriate.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will be professionally responsible for all aspects of their own work including the management of service users in their care.
  • To organise clinical work effectively with particular regard to clinical priorities and use of time.
  • To provide appropriate interventions to clients, according to the nature of their eating difficulty and the current clinical guidelines.
  • To monitor patients physical health through the coordination and delivery of physical health clinics, responsible for the taking of blood, undertaking ECG’s and the monitoring of weight and height, interpret results and to act on these accordingly.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To care co-ordinate clients with complex needs as appropriate.
  • To monitor, evaluate and modify treatment in order to measure progress, and to ensure effective intervention.
  • The post holder will be responsible for the development and provision of group interventions for clients and carers.
  • To provide specialist advice to service users and their carers and offer information about resources available to service users within the community.
  • To engage and develop effective therapeutic relationships with eating disorder clients to maximise their recovery potential, and advance their understanding of the condition.
  • To work collaboratively and in conjunction with the Adult Community Mental Health Teams in a Hub and Spoke model of care delivery
  • To use skills including motivational interviewing and psychoeducation specific to Eating Disorders, this will involve eliciting highly sensitive information.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • • Qualification in Mental Health i.e First level professional nursing / AHP / Social Work.
  • • Post registration experience at a leadership level

Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Post registration experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team with proven ability to work collaboratively across professional boundaries.
  • • Has experience in supporting and supervising carers, voluntary services and or primary health care professionals.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • • Knowledge and application of Psychological Therapy techniques such as CBT and motivational interviewing. Comprehensive knowledge of relevant healthcare policy.
  • • Knowledge and experience of audit processes.
