Job overview
North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust's Community Directorate are looking to recruit a full time Band 8a Service Manager to lead their new Integrated Specialism Service Line.
The post is fixed term until 31 March 2027 but may become permanent for the right candidate. A secondment will be considered but you must have the approval of your Line Manager beforehand.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the operational, performance and business management of their delegated service areas. The post holder will work under the direction and line management of the Associate Director, with a secondary reporting line to the Clinical Director (or Deputy Director of Operations in their absence).
• As the primary priority, ensure patient safety and excellent service quality across the Directorate,
implementing and embedding the Trust’s Proud to CARE and SPAR priorities within the Directorate.
• Responsible for ensuring governance arrangements within teams are implemented in line with Trust policies.
• Work with Quality Improvement Lead Nurse in implementing quality improvement for areas of responsibility.
• The development, with the Associate Director as line manager, and Clinical Director as accountable officer, of the Directorate strategy and annual, three and five-year business plans.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
• Deliver agreed performance targets within delegated service areas and develop strategies and operational plans / policies for improvement.
• Support the Trust’s strategy by developing and implementing changes to operational practices to ensure the Trust’s strategic objectives are delivered within the Directorate.
• Work with corporate colleagues, specifically the Performance and Digital function, to develop the management information requirements necessary for the effective management of the Directorate.

- • Masters degree or equivalent experience
- • In depth professional knowledge of financial management, performance management, service improvement, staff management
Experience

- • Extensive, proven experience in working in an NHS environment, with significant experience of team/area management
- • Experience of contributing to the development of and implementing policy and long-term strategic plans
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- • Innovative and creative, ability to implement national and local strategy and policy drivers relevant to all services within services
- • Strong leadership and motivational skills – able to work effectively with a diverse team located on multiple sites
