Senior Staff Nurse

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Registered Nurse with a background of  surgical nursing and management of airways and complex wound care  wishing to further their career within the specialities of Ear Nose and Throat, Maxio facial, Plastics, ophthalmology and general surgery.

Main duties of the job

We are a 28-bedded surgical ward providing comprehensive care for patients undergoing a wide range of surgical procedures. Our team is highly skilled in managing complex post-operative needs, with particular expertise in:

  • Airway Management: Specialist care for patients with laryngectomy and tracheostomy, including ongoing airway maintenance and emergency response.
  • Advanced Wound Care: Expertise in flap care and the use of negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) to support optimal healing and recovery.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Working closely with surgical teams, SALT, tissue viability, and physiotherapy to deliver holistic care.
  • Shift Leadership and Ward Support Responsibilities

    • Lead the team effectively on a shift-by-shift basis, ensuring high standards of patient care, safety, and staff coordination.
    • Undertake specific clinical and operational tasks as required to support the smooth running of the ward.
    • Demonstrate a proactive attitude toward learning, showing willingness to acquire new skills and knowledge.

We are looking to appoint a Senior Staff Nurse to join the management team.     We are seeking an individual who is highly motivated, professional and demonstrates strong leadership skills who can work under pressure as part of a team. In addition,  you should possess good organisational skills and communication skills.
