Advanced Occupational Therapist
Band 7
Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic Advanced Occupational Therapist to join the Respiratory Medical Team. The Therapy teams provide services within a progressive University Hospital Trust across two hospital sites, with this post being based at Royal Stoke.
This post offers the opportunity to work in and develop the Occupational Therapy service provision to specialist respiratory wards which are recognised as regional centres for Motor Neurone Disease, Non Invasive Critical Care & Complex Tracheostomy Weaning.
This is an opportunity for someone to embed themselves in an area that is at the forefront of specialist acute hospital services. Medical patients are one of the biggest cohorts of patients seen in the acute trust and this specialist post lends itself naturally to innovative ways of working. It will also give the post holder an excellent opportunity to consolidate their leadership and management skills as well as building clinical expertise that will enhance and broaden rehabilitation skills and discharge planning with this complex group of patients.
Main duties of the job
If you are interested in working with a group of specialist acute medical patients who present with all the challenges of rehabilitating patients with complex co-morbidities and you are interested in developing the Occupational Therapy service to this area whilst being at the forefront of transformational change then this post is for you.
Supervision will be provided by Principal Therapists and continuous development is supported through appraisal, internal training and external learning. The Medical Therapies team work within a 7 day shift system therefore the post holder will be required to work weekends and bank holidays.
We are looking for an enthusiastic therapist who is able to embrace the challenges and opportunities of working in an acute trust, who is able to take on a dynamic post and see the rewards of investing in a team that sits as one of the Trusts main priorities.
