An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Nurse Specialist Metastatic Lung CNS to work across both RSUH and County Hospitals.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Staff Nurse to join our team to take on this specialist nursing role working as a key member within the Breast multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

Work as an effective team member and demonstrate excellent communication skills between the multidisciplinary teams both in hospital and in the wider community.

To attend and participate in the weekly Lung multi-disciplinary team meeting.

Have the opportunity to attend meetings and National conferences as well as local Living With and Beyond Cancer meetings and Macmillan Lead Cancer Nurse meetings.

To communicate effectively, with patients and their families/carers, over a range of highly sensitive and emotional issues.

Fulfil the role of key worker, as a team, being a point of contact for the patients and work as patient advocate with the MDT.

To support staff in the delivery of quality patient focused care.

Provide holistic needs assessment, at time period of diagnosis and treatment planning and any other point of the patient journey and record it on the Somerset system.

Provide information about local generic Health and Well-being sessions and support groups.

Provide on-going support for all people with metastatic breast cancer.

Act as a role model.

You will have to be adaptable and flexible in order to meet the challenges and demand of this role.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse on NMC Register
  • Degree in Nursing or health/nursing related studies or evidence of continuing academic progression in combination with equivalent experience
  • Oncology experience and recognised certified course
  • ENB 998 cert in teaching or equivalent

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Experience in a leadership role
  • Experience of audit within the healthcare setting

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
