Advanced Therapist (PT/OT) - Urgent Care

Job overview
The Medical Therapies team are looking for an enthusiastic Advanced Therapist to work in a senior decision making and leadership role within the Therapies Urgent Care Team based at the Royal Stoke Hospital.
The post offers the opportunity to work in one of the busiest A&E services in the UK within an exciting University Hospital environment with a mixed caseload of patients across a number of areas including A&E Front of House, the Clinical Decision Unit, Acute Medical Unit, Resus, Short Stay Ward, Frail Elderly Assessment Unit and ambulatory care. The team consist of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and dual trained Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Technical Instructors. The successful candidate will have substantial previous NHS experience and experience of working within Medicine and the Urgent Care setting with experience of treating patients including the acute and chronic respiratory, multi pathology / complex patients, neurological, cognitively and perceptually impaired.
Main duties of the job
- To work as a specialised practitioner managing the clinical delivery of care in a specialised area.
- To lead the clinical team within your area and organise staff and resources to meet service standards and demands.
- To be responsible for the provision of specialist training to therapy staff and other members of the MDT.
- Use analytical and problem solving skills to interpret, analyse and evaluate complex information from a variety of sources
- The University Hospital of the North Midlands is based across 2 hospital sites, the Royal Stoke and the County Hospital. The Therapy department is made up of two divisional based teams within multiple clinical areas and has excellent links with Keele University. The successful candidate will be involved in student education as well as staff in-service training. Supervision will be provided by Principal Therapists and continuous development is supported through appraisal, supervision, internal training and external learning.

Essential criteria
- Degree/ Diploma in Physiotherapy
- Registered with HCPC
- Portfolio of personal & professional development
- Post holder committed to working at master's level e.g. attended courses accredited at master's/post graduate level
Desirable criteria
- Working towards a higher qualification qualification relevant to speciality e.g. Master's degree
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working as a senior physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist within the speciality area
- Experience of teaching students, staff & other proessional groups
- Post graduate (NHS) experience with considerable experience in speciality area
- Experience of undertaking out of hours working
Desirable criteria
- Experience gained within an acute setting
- Involvement in audit/research
Skills, ability & knowledge
