We require enthusiastic and flexible Theatre Porter to join our Theatre team at the Royal Stoke Hospital site of the University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust. Here we specialise in Orthopaedic, General surgery, Upper GI, Urology, Gynaecology, Plastics, Bariatric, ENT and more specialities.
Working days, 37.5 hours over 7 days.
To support the operating department multidisciplinary team and, under direct supervision, contribute towards the care of the ambulatory and perioperative patient. The post holder will be required to transmit information, transport items and patients within and beyond the operating Department complex. They will be responsible for the general cleanliness of the department and the specific cleaning of the operating theatres.
A background in Health & Safety and team working would be an advantage but not essential.
You will need to be a team player with good communication skills and an ability to adapt to new situations with a strong focus on providing excellent quality patient care within the Theatre environment.
Main duties of the job
Never exceed the limits of own job description and abilities.
Receive and transmit routine information.
Call waste management in case of breakdown complete incident forms and follow up.
Check and put stores sets for the department.
Move beds and furniture to requested areas.
The immediate surroundings are prepared appropriately for the transfer of patients and potential hazards are removed
The patient is informed of the nature and purpose of the transfer or move in a manner, which encourages their understanding and co-operation.
Required transfer and moving equipment is made available and ready for use.
The patients’ dignity is maintained at all times.
Safe and suitable moving and handling techniques are used at all times
Transfer and moving equipment is used safely and correctly at all times.
Transfers and moves are carried out in a way, which does not endanger other members of staff, or cause damage to equipment or the environment.
Obstructions to free passage are clear before the transfer or moving of patients.
Correct disposal of all waste within the Department.
Cleans and tidies the environment.
Signs and keeps work logs up to date.
