Job overview

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Administrator that is looking for a new challenge to work in an organisation that will help you develop and achieve your goals to become the best you can be.

The Medical and Clinical Administrator post is available as a fixed term/secondment position (for approximately 18 months) to support our Adult Mental Health Services situated in Hall Court, Telford. The Service offers mental health care and treatment across a variety of different age ranges and presentation. 

The post holder will be working as part of a team along with other Medical and Clinical Administrators and Administrative Assistants.  The post holder will be expected to be able to use their own initiative and judgement, although they will be well supported by other Mental Health Admin staff and through the clinical and professional networks accessible through the community teams.

Main duties of the job

Our Medical & Clinical Administrators are an integral part of our Admin Team. The role is busy, challenging and rewarding.   We are currently looking for a Medical and Clinical Administrator working 37.5 hours per week, supporting the Adult Mental Health Services based in Telford which is available as a fixed term/secondment position for approximately 18 months. 

What will the role entail?

  • Administration work for Consultant Psychiatrist/Doctors/Clinical Leads and other Mental Health Professionals
  • Typing clinical letters
  • Diary and clinic management for the Consultant Psychiatrist/Clinical Leads - scheduling appointments, supervisions etc.
  • Confidently handling complex queries of a challenging/sensitive nature
  • Concise & accurate message taking
  • Using own initiative to proactively resolve problems
  • Minute Taking
  • Day to Day operational tasks to support the Consultant Psychiatrist/Doctors/Clinical Leads and other Mental Health Professionals

QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

Essential criteria
  • NVQ 3 in Business Admin, finance, customer care or relevant experience
  • Possesses a good standard of general education
  • Possesses a recognised typing qualification (RSA II typing or equivalent) or can display word processing skills to an equivalent level of competence
Desirable criteria
  • Audio Transcription RSA II
  • ECDL
  • RSA III typing

EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria
  • Previous secretarial / administrative experience
  • A good understanding of office procedures
  • Working as part of a team
  • Manage and prioritise own workload
  • Dealing with the public
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of working within the NHS
  • Use of RiO

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

Essential criteria
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent typing skills and ability to transcribe from audio with precision and speed.
  • Work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Proficient in the use of Office Package (i.e. Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc.)
  • Willing to travel to other locations as and when required.
