Telford and Wrekin Community Mental Health service provide assessment and evidence based interventions for people who present with complex mental health difficulties that are significantly impacting on their daily life alongside our partner organisations. 

We are looking for a Senior Nurse Practitioner to the join our team specifically working within our award winning Clozapine and Depot Clinics to support the delivery of our service.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will need to encourage effective engagement of those presenting with complex mental health needs, utilising excellent communication skills, whilst maintaining compassion and hope through every contact.  We incorporate a trauma informed psychological approach which aims to increase people’s independence, working towards an improved quality of life.

The successful applicant will have sound clinical knowledge and experience around antipsychotic medication administration, legal frameworks, contraindications, monitoring requirements and supporting physical health.

There is an emphasis on team based multi-disciplinary decision making which lends itself to creating a supportive environment for staff.    We also value a culture of active service and personal development for all staff.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We are looking for a Senior Nurse Practitioner who wants to work as part of our dedicated clinic team support those with Severe and Enduring Mental Health, and to be part of our wider multi-disciplinary team that includes Community Mental Health Nurses, Advanced Pharmacist, Non-Medical Prescribers, Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Psychologists, Consultant Psychiatrist, Occupational Therapists, Peer Support (lived experience) Workers, Health Care Support Workers, Employment, Housing and Financial Advisors.  

This post will be working within our Clozapine and Depot Clinics providing support to those who require our services.

As part our local mental health alliance network you will have opportunity to attend our weekly meetings which provides an opportunity to look at how best as services we can work together to support individuals who are presenting with multiple needs, risks and complexity.  Particularly where engagement may be difficult.

You will be asked within this role to support and contribute to the clinical supervision of junior members of the team and students on placement with the service.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered mental health nurse on NMC Register
  • Post registration experience, evidence of formal courses and training at diploma/degree level
  • Registered mentor
Desirable criteria
  • Leadership qualification
  • BSc degree in nursing or equivalent level
  • Qualification/training in providing supervision or coaching
  • Non-medical prescriber
  • Phlebotomy training

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of extensive post registration experience with working with adults experiencing mental health related difficulties
  • Experience of working with people who have difficulty in engaging with services and have complex mental health needs
  • Evidence of sound knowledge around antipsychotic medications and monitoring
Desirable criteria
  • Expereince working within Depot / Clozpaine Clinics
