Main duties of the job

Are you a forensic consultant psychiatrist or general adult psychiatrist with a special interest in forensics?  Here is a great opportunity for you!

We have a unique offer & want to recruit to an established full time consultant post, providing consultancy & clinical leadership within the MH teams in HMP Leeds & HMP Wakefield. Inclusion work in partnership with Practice Plus Group across both prisons; working as part of an integrated healthcare model.

You will have an opportunity to lead & develop the service. The nature of the prisons will offer wonderful opportunities to enrich your clinical & academic skills.

This role will be split across the two prisons on a needs led basis.

HMP Leeds

A Category B adult male remand prison, in the Armley area of Leeds, West Yorkshire. It has a prison population of approx. 1210 prisoners across six residential units, a segregation unit, First Night Centre, Vulnerable Prisoner unit & social care unit.

HMP Wakefield

A  Category A (High Secure) men's prison in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. It  currently has a prison population of around 700.

Nationally, Inclusion provides mental health & drug & alcohol services to over 24 prisons, delivering high quality services. Quality of care is typically rated GOOD or VERY GOOD!

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Full GMC registration.
  • CCT in Forensic or General Adult Psychiatry OR Eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register (higher trainees should be within six months of CCT at the time of interview)

Clinical and professional competence

Essential criteria
  • Hold Approved Clinician (AC) status (or be eligible for approval)
  • Experience of working in UK prisons
