Job overview
We are seeking an passionate and hard-working Theatre Practitioner or Ophthalmic Theatre Practitioner to join our Eye Treatment Centre team. This role primarily involves working in our eye theatres, assisting with a range of surgeries including cataracts, oculoplastics, strabismus, corneal, and glaucoma procedures. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to rotate into various areas of the Eye Treatment Centre, including clinics, the ward, and the intravitreal injection service.

STAFF CAR PARKING
Staff Car Parking on the West Suffolk Hospital Site is eligible for individuals working outside of the core hours, 07:00 – 18:30.
For individuals working within the core hours, the Trust offers parking off site at the Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club, which is serviced by a regular shuttle bus to and from the Hospital. Details of the bus timetable can be found in the on-line starter pack on the West Suffolk Hospital website.
This parking restriction does not apply if an individual is required to work on a weekend or if they are required to complete “on call” duties within their role.

Education and qualifications
Essential criteria
- NMC/HPC Registration
- Current BLS
- Working toward completion of ILS course
- Evidence of on-going professional development
Desirable criteria
- Experience of Ophthalmology within the theatre environment
Experience and knowledge
Essential criteria
- Interest and insight into a high volume, fast turnover work environment
- Recent relevant experience in acute care
- Experience at working within a MDT.
- Experience in delivering health education to patients.
Skills and abilities
Essential criteria
- Willingness to share knowledge
- Previous mentorship experience
- Willingness to undertake a course in mentorship
Personal qualities
Essential criteria
- Evidence of good time keeping
- Demonstrate well organised time management skills.
