We are looking for a passionate and dedicated individual to join our growing Diagnostic Cardiology team as a Healthcare Science Assistant.

 

We are part of a dedicated Cardiac Centre, including a Cardiac Ward and state of the art Cardiac Catheter Lab with an excellent multi-disciplinary team. Diagnostic Cardiology is a small, friendly department and we are very proud of the quality of services we offer including; Trans-thoracic Echo, Stress Echos, Trans-Oesophageal Echo, Specialist Valve Clinics, Diagnostic Coronary Angiography, Pacemakers, CRT and Implantable Loop Recorders. We provide tailored training and support for trainees across a range of entry routes, including the Apprenticeship and STP programmes. We actively encourage staff progression and support staff to obtain / maintain professional accreditation for echo or pacing. Our Diagnostic Cardiology staff consists of a mix of cardiac physiologists, healthcare science assistants, healthcare science students and administrative support staff.

Main duties of the job

Primary duties will be performing 12 lead ECGs, the fitting of ambulatory heart rate and blood pressure monitoring alongside assisting with stress ECG and Echo procedures.

Education and qualifications

Essential criteria
  • - NVQ/SVQ level 2 training or equivalent experience
  • - Willingness to work towards SCST Certificate in Electrocardiography

Experience and knowledge

Essential criteria
  • - Experience in a healthcare environment
  • - Experience performing 12-lead ECGs
  • - Experience fitting ambulatory ECG/BP monitors
  • - Basic ECG knowledge and ability to recognise significant abnormalities
Desirable criteria
  • - Experience of teaching/training students
