Job overview

The opportunity has arisen to grow and evolve our Community Neuro Physiotherapy service at West Suffolk Foundation Trust, Bury St Edmunds. We have exciting prospect for Band 6 Physiotherapist within the Community Neuro Physiotherapy team.
 
The static post would be suitable for someone seeking to develop their physiotherapy clinical and leadership skills at Band 6 level within a community neuro team.      You will be based at the Disability Resource Centre in Bury St Edmunds, and will be expected to travel to patients homes and clinic sites around the west of suffolk.

Main duties of the job

To provide evidence-based assessment and treatment of patients with a range of neurological conditions, with a primary focus on Vestibular problems.
 
To autonomously manage a mixed caseload of patients with a primary neurology diagnosis/condition.
 
To provide community-based interventions across West Suffolk with support of the community neurology lead Physiotherapist.
 
To support/advise/signpost colleagues who are managing complex patients with neurological conditions across settings.
 
To work in partnership with the team lead with the daily management of the neurological physiotherapy service
 
To support and educate patients in order to facilitate the adoption of self-management strategies.
 
To communicate complex information.
 
To assist the Team Leaders in planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating the Physiotherapy Service provided to patients within the team, on a day-to-day basis.
 
To foster a positive team ethos, promoting, supporting, and developing the service, staff, and students to enable a safe and healthy working environment
 
To ensure staff and students are supported to maximise development opportunities
 
To maintain an active professional development portfolio and to continue with on-going learning

STAFF CAR PARKING

 

Staff Car Parking on the West Suffolk Hospital Site is eligible for individuals working outside of the core hours, 07:00 – 18:30.

 

For individuals working within the core hours, the Trust offers parking off site at the Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club, which is serviced by a regular shuttle bus to and from the Hospital.  Details of the bus timetable can be found in the on-line starter pack on the West Suffolk Hospital website.

 

This parking restriction does not apply if an individual is required to work on a weekend or if they are required to complete “on call” duties within their role.

Education & Qualification

Essential criteria
  • Degree in Physiotherapy (BSc/MSc)
  • HCPC registration
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant clinical courses

Experience & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Extensive experience as a qualified therapist within a range of settings, including Neurology.
  • Documented evidence of Clinical Professional Development (CPD) demonstrating transferable skills.
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience in NHS or similar with specific experience within respiratory, medicine and neurology
  • Practice Educators Course/ Evidence of previous teaching experience
  • Experience of supervising students or staff
