Job overview

We are looking for a keen and committed individual to join our team in cardiology, providing administration support for the day-to-day running of the Diagnostic Cardiology Department, located at West Suffolk Hospital. Key aspects of this role include working closely with a variety of people and utilising patient databases to ensure smooth running of the department.

It is an exciting time in the department with expansion of services both at West Suffolk Hospital and our new Community Diagnostic Hub in Newmarket. This provides diagnostic cardiology  services with state of the art facilities, including ECG, ECG moinitoring, echocardiography and invasive cardiac services.

The Cardiology department is a small, friendly department and are very proud of the quality of services we offer. Our Cardiology Department staff consists of a mix of cardiac physiologists, cardiographers, assistant technical officers and admin support staff.

West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust is a prestigious “centre of global digital excellence”, after it was identified as one of the country’s 26 “most digitally advanced” trusts.

For more information, please contact Anna Clapton: [email protected]  or telephone 01284 712536.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will join the Clerical and Administrative team within the Diagnostic Cardiology Department. As a member of the Diagnostic Cardiology Team, the applicant will support the administrative functions within the team, and all other linked areas e.g. Wards, Clinics and the catheter lab.

The role has a particular focus on patient communication and interactions, so it is essential that the applicant has experience with patient or customer facing roles. This role will, on occasion, involve other departmental administration duties, including providing cover for other administrative staff, performing duties such as booking appointments.

In the performance of duties, the post holder will be required to liaise with medical and nursing staff and other departments across West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust as necessary.
