An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious, friendly motivated worker to join the multidisciplinary team at the Ipswich Child development Centre as a Clinic assistant/ Chaperone.

The role will include meeting children and families when they arrive for appointments, carrying out height and weight measurements and supporting in clinics and MDT assessments.

The role also includes acting as a formal chaperone within the paediatric clinics when required.

You will be responsible for ensuring the clinic rooms and waiting areas have appropriate toys and equipment and assist with cleaning and tidying at the end of sessions.

Main duties of the job

          Being sensitive and respect the patient’s dignity and confidentiality.

·        Reassuring the patient if they show any signs of distress or discomfort by providing emotional support.  

·         Assisting with dressing or undressing the patient if required.

·         Being familiar with the procedures involved and assists with the consultation,   investigation or procedure if appropriately trained.

·         Staying for the whole examination and be able to see what the practitioner is doing, if   practical to do so.

·        To provide protection to healthcare professionals against unfounded allegations of improper behaviour. A chaperone is present as a safeguard for all parties (patient and practitioner) and is a witness to continuing consent of the procedure. Being prepared to raise concerns if they are concerned about the practitioner’s behaviour.
